I just watched the movie Eragon, It sucked and I knew it would but still, I love the book and I thought ti might be fun (it wasn't, it sucked really bad).
The book in complex and slow and beautiful with a lot of emotions and questions about the way people make choices and the effect of those choices, the dragon is as much a character, with a sense of humor and strong feeling as the main human character and there are a lot of technical details about magic and strength and fighting.
The movie however looks like an hour and a half music video with no music, there are barely any dialogs, the characters are flat, and a beautiful deep debate about the nature of choices and taking sides and freedom is turn into a basic shallow good and evil battle.
IK was wondering if Christopher Paolini made any statements regarding the movie, if he liked it or hated it?
Why not hear hin talk about it in person , in general he says it's "strange".
1:44- he starts talking about it.

I like the movie though I must say that the book was better.. just like in Harry Potter the books are better than the movie. There are some scenario that they didn't include in the movie. But the only thing that made the movie good is that you will not imagine you will see clearly the characters the book was portraying. ^_^

Hi Lilly,
Thanks! I goess this is as close as he could get to saying he didn't like it without getting into trouble with the production...
The interview was really cool by the way.
I guess that's why I was so disappointed of it - It was totally not the way I imagined it. I listened to the audio book versions and the guy who was reading it did such an amazing job bringing everything to life.
One of my favorite things about Eragon was that there are a lot of evil people but no side is totally good or evil and each choice changes things and effect the future in both good and bad ways. In the movie there was no explanation about any of this and it was such a typical good vs. Evil story.
i already read the book but i havent seen the movie yet,.thanks for the information,.now im so curious to watch it on dvd to campare what better..the book or the movie!
Did anyone besides myself notice that their were NO dwarfs, the Urgals and the Kull were bestial HUMANS, there was NO Rose Window, there was a hint of a suggestion between Eragon and Arya, Roran's departure was completely bastardized, Angela the Herbalist was suddenly turned into a mystical seductress who speaks to herself in the third person, in a house and small city built on stilts? Or that Eragon's brother was left fine and dandy after the battle? But the worst crime of all, we start with an image of Galbatorix (which after the third book, we still haven't seen), and then, at the end of the movie, we see his dragon (which in the books we still haven't seen). I think that it is fair to say that this was a little more than poetic license. They left no room for a sequel, particularly because they revealed things in the movie that do not happen until the second book. And the Razac? Did ANYONE like their film depiction. This movie was an insult to Paolini from the start. Literally.
