Be honest and be true to yourself.

Serve them what they like to eat and drink. Don't discuss religion and politics or anything controversial. Make them enjoy the evening by starting games that they enjoy, or better sing karaoke together.

cooking simple stuff, chicken&vegetables and for drink a fruit cocktail

I suggest checking with guests beforehand about whether any of them have special dietary considerations due to health concerns, religious restrictions, or for reasons such as being vegetarian or vegan (and if anyone says they are vegetarian or vegan, find out what that means to them, since different people seem to have different definitions).  If you are not a very experienced and confident cook (and maybe even if you are), consider trying out all recipes before the dinner party.  If some guests haven'r been to your home previously, send driving/public transportation directions, and information about the parking situation.

Inviting the right group of people is first and foremost on the list. Make sure you invite people of like minds per party.  And don't invite more then you think you can handle for one dinner party. Keep it down to 10 or 12 or less or you will be frazzled by the night's end. Keep the menu simple unless you plan to have it catered or have kitchen help. You are going to be tense enough worrying that everything is perfect, so don't over-do the menu.

Plan fun activities, such as pictionary, trivial pursuit, card games, (Bridge, Gin Rummy, even UNO can be fun with the right group of people.) charades, sing-a-longs, even karaoke can be fun after everyone has had a few cocktails.

Keep the conversation light and steer away from anything that could cause argumentative debates.

And most importantly have a good time. Take pictures and videos, they will one day become cherished memories that you WILL cherish for a lifetime.

try to make it a out door occasion

I try to make things ahead of time that can be.  Saves last minute stuff to have time for and not be as rushed so you can enjoy your company-always have someone bring stuff if they offer...its ok to do that...you have enough to do

Do these people know each other or will many of them be meeting each other for the first time? Either way I would suggest having a fun dinner party board game on hand.

This works well in either situation - It serves as an excellent icebreaker if people don't know each other well. Else, you'll all still have a great time together with the type of game that has people finding out new things about the other, for example - the Table Topics Conversation Cards game

I like having these types of games on hand - It's a great lifesaver if there are any long silences and it's also a way to get everyone to participate. That way everyone has a good time and no one is left out

Have a pig roast for 3 days and let the friends enjoy.
