I've asked the same question before and looked into it and it seems that unlike in other cultures, in old british tradition it was considered rude to speak about food and apetite which is why the phrase does not exist in english.

Screw the british tradition, we use "good apetite"

If I can't answer it, I'll at least make up something that sounds plausible.

I agree, British food is pretty unspeakable. That's why chicken tikka masala is the national dish.
