Just keep trying! Persistance is key.. And technically, with some cases (and of course, depending on the severity) employers are not suppose to discriminate. Good luck!

I was a private investigator, found lots of this...

1. How long ago? Will it show up on a background check? Is it a misdemeanor or a felony? How old were you when it happened,,, big difference if you were 13, vs 33.

If this is causing you problems, I would run a background check on yourself,,, hire someone to do it, and simply see what it says before you panic.  If it shows up,  simply explain it,  if it is minor, they will give you a chance, providing you haven't had any other problems since. If it is a biggie,  or a felony, you got a problem...but again, think about it, explain it, that is all you can do. One woman called me and told me she had shoplifed when she was 14, this is twenty years later,,, didnt show up on her background check.  

If it was me, I'd do an employment background check on myself first...

we can't eradicate discrimination in our system but what a person do in that case is to ask for a recommendation from his penal officers that he has a good behaviour and try to show it to your employer. everybody has a chance
