I made it a point to understand the situation related to the Taliban and Al Qaida and Islam after serving in Shield/Storm. The 8 weeks of Terrorist training I recieved showed me this was a problem that was not going to go away and it was far reaching and far from new.
To understand something, it is my contention, one needs to understand the thinking behind the problem or those actions that cause reactions and bring about an undesirable result. If it is a war then I need to know my enemy. I need to get into his/her head to see where their rationale is springing from. Everything, everyone is moved by something. It is that something that is the crux of the matter.
To answer your question one must consider why are we even considering the Taliban a threat to freedom in Pakistan. This is not a new war, it is an old war with new names for the enemy along with the old names. The problems with Islam and pirating of the high seas for 20 yrs and America the new Nation giving them 20% of our Taxes until one of our presidents put a stop to it by using our Navy and Marines to quelch them, before that the Crusades, prior to that the devestation by Muhammad when he created Islam 600 years after the birth of Christianity and thousands of years after Civilizations, great and small, religions, philosophies, science, music, art, etc. etc. etc. had come and gone or gone on and he began a season of Terror that continues to this day. What is the basis of that continuing Terror? What drives these people to rampage through the streets of Islamic countries by the thousands over a teacher naming a Teddy Bear Muhammad, threatening to kill the teacher, shooting guns into the air, wild screaming and nashing of teeth? Or the same thing if an Author dares to write a book about Muhammad or something like " The Satanic Verses", or anything anywhere anyone says or does to bring about this insane picture? Why in the squares of Islamic countries all over the world, on a daily basis they have stonings, mutilations, decapitations, execution by hanging, everyday? Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Iraq til we helped them, Iran, Afghanistan til we helped them, all over the world. 9/11 America. America. 3000 + in such little time, more than died in 3+ years of fighting in Iraq, more than 3+ years of a war zone. 3000 + innocent Americans flesh, blood, bones in the streets of New York City. Darfur 500,000 people, humanbeings, men, women, children, elderly, slaughtered, raped, burned, decapitated, ,mutilated, stoned, impalled, hung, executed, butchered with the Arabian Long Knife of the Barbaric Armies of the Muhajadeen and just as many people displaced as the world sits back and watches the genicide and the Arabs continue to move into the lands of Darfur and institute Sharia Law. WHAT MOVES THEM??????????????

Arafat could not have made it plainer. Syria. IF WE HAVE EARS TO LISTEN WE BEST TO LISTEN NOW. RIGHT NOW. WE DID NOT LISTEN THEN. The results are bearing themselves around the world today. After this statement began the Embassy bombings, the plane highjackings, the burning of the Marine Barracks on and on and on.
Egyptian Brotherhood came to this country 50 years ago. Look them up. See what has sprang from thier loins in this country and remains to this day infiltrating every infrastructure in our country.
Ollie North when he went in front of Congress for the Iran Contraband Affair asked for protection from Terrorist. The Congress asked them what Terrorists. He said Bin Laden, Congress laughed and said there are no terrorists in the United States.
Saudi Arabia caught Bin Laden. Wanted to ship him to America. Said he was a grave threat to America and Middle East. Bill Clinton said no thanks, did not know what to do with him.
Now countries like Pakistan, countries all over the world, Khomeinis words are ringing in the ears of the people. Heads are rolling, people being annihilated and our new president elect has a Fatwa on his head, issued by the very people he will talk to without conditions. My guess is, knowing the Muhajadeen and the others he best to have conditions, FOR HIMSELF.
To understand what driving force lies in the heart of our enemies. The ones they call Terrorists. You can study the history of Afghanistan and read about the different countries that have tried and failed in the past to tame it. You can read about the take over of Iran and the New Beginnings of Terror. You can study the Crusades. You can study the Barbary Coast Pirates and our fight with them. You can read the life of Muhammad. But I sincerely believe it is absolutely imperative every single person who wants to remain free in every single country in the world must read the HADDITH, SUNNA AND QUR'AN.
For it is from these Main Springs of thought and ideology used as matras from birth for those living in Islamic countries that this hideous monster has raised it's head to complete the work it started with Muhammad to rule the world and force Islam down the throats of every humanbeing on the planet and if you do not accept they will slit your throat or make sure you can never use it again.
