Embarressing Acne

please help me! I'm a 12 year old girl (6th grade in middle school), who has HORRIBLE acne. I don't mean just a few little pimples, I mean ALL OVER, and my face is always red and disgusting. It's really embarrassing and it's been going on for at least 2 years. I'd look so much better if it wasn't for my acne. Also, in school I wear concealer and powder but my face gets really oily and by lunch, my face is shiny, red, and even more disgusting. It's not just the make-up, it happens all the time. I've tried everything, from proactive, to clean & clear, to clearasil. nothing works. I wash my face in the morning and at night and I am very active and drink lots of water. Any suggestions??? Please help!!!

Cucumber juice is a home remedy for acne.  You can either soak a washcloth in the juice and then cover your face with it until the juice dries out on your skin, or cut the cucumber into thin slices, and then rub the slice against your skin.  You can also get prescription antibiotics from your doctor.  I heard both methods work equally well.

i would have suggested proactiv or clearasil but you said you have tried them. You should talk to your doctor about a prescription of a lotion for your acne it's sometimes advertised on t.v.

Herbal acne home remedies

•Tip 1:
• Burdock leaf tea
• Lavender essential oil (mix 1:10 with water)
• Tincture of calendula flowers.
• Tea tree essential oil (mix 1:10 with water)
• Liquefy cabbage leaves with witch hazel, strain and add two drops of lemon oil. Use as a lotion.
• Ice down the acne before bed, by morning it should be noticeably less swollen. Works best on larger pimples that have not yet formed a head.

I'm the type of girl who will burst out laughing in dead silence because of something that happened yesterday.

It may be time to ask your parents to take you to the dermatologist. This doctor can prescribe oral medication that you can take to help clear up your acne.

dont despair,i had very bad acne when i was younger.yr gp can give you dianette, which is a con pill,i was given this for spots and there was a marked improvement within wks,its worth a try.keep drinking yr water and change your pillowcase each day.DONT use products which dry the skin out as it then produces more oil which in turn cause the spots, use a mild cleanser to remove make up and dab spots individually with a treatment.good luck best wishes mandy

If you can, I would have your parents take you to a dermatologist or at the very least, an esthetician. If this is not an option, read further.

All teenagers break out -- this does NOT mean they have acne. I have seen so many kids who jump on the acne bandwagon and end up ruining their skin.

What happens:
Teen breaks out. Teen freaks out.
Teen buys a multitude of harsh chemicals and slathers them on said breakout.
Chemicals dry out skin. Skin is angry and produces MORE oil to restore balance.
Teen breaks out because skin is angry and chemically imbalanced.

What I would recommend --

Washing Your face (2x daily) - Use a gentle cleanser (try Cetaphil)... Wet  your face, and smooth on the cleanser. Start at your chin, and circle with your fingers up towards your earlobes, slide back to the corner of your mouth and circle to the center of your ear, slide to your nostrils and circle to your temples. Slide back to nostrils and circle up the nose.  Circle on forehead. You can splash to rinse or use a washcloth for gentle exfoliation. (Wet cloth, rinse face... rinse the cloth and go over again to get any other residue off) Follow with a water based moisturizer. This will hydrate your skin with water so that your skin does not feel the need to produce excess oil.

Blemish treatment -- If you have blemishes, you can use several things to spot treat.
1: Boudreaux's Baby Butt Smooth. Yes, this sounds weird.  But it works. Do this at night. http://www.buttpaste.com/BabyButtSmooth.php
2: Make a paste of powdered aspirin or baking powder -- place it on your blemishes.. it will draw the impurities to the surface so you may get rid of them. Do this no more than 2x a week.

Any sort of treatment generally takes about 4-6 weeks to show a HUGE improvement. What I am suggesting is that you let your skin try and balance itself without all those harsh acne treatments and see if it clears up a little. If it turns out you actually do have acne, Murad has an acne kit thats relatively inexpensive, as far as acne kits go. http://www.murad.com/acne-complex-treatments/

PS: I'm an esthetician...I've seen lots of teens ruin their skin with harsh treatments... so please try giving your skin a break.

Try this simple remedy. Wash your face twice a day in warm salty water. This should leave your face oil free without aggravating the pimples like soap. The secret of keeping the skin clear is to keep it oil-free and clean.Check out http://usefulinfo-acne.blogspot.com/  for more useful info.
