Electric scooter batteries

Hi! I'm thinking about getting an electric scooter, but I was told that the batteries start to self-discharge rapidly. At the beginning it last for 50km, but after a while it will only last 30km or less. Is this true? The battery is a 12V40AH Lead (Gel). Thank you

It is not completely refuted. All rechargeable batteries experience this effect. Question is, how long does it take before performance start to fade. Handling the scooter and the battery as mentioned in the article will definitely make the battery last longer. No obvious answer as to when the battery will last for 30km instead of 50km. Why don't you go for the gas powered one?

I'd rather go for an electrical scooter not only because of all the environmental problems that the world is struggling with nowadays, but also because the fuel price is unbearable, and still rising.
