Asked about “FEMALE FOETICIDE IN INDIA

Education and female foeticide

i want to know about the relationship between education and female foeticide...is it because of high literacy rate that kerala is low in female foeticide???but it is also seen that female foeticide is mostly seen in cities compared to villages...how can we relate this to education?

Education and literacy are two different things, there are many type of people

1.There may be people who are highly educated but are illiterate e.g politicians .
2.There are people who are educated and also literate e.g swami vivekananda
3.There are people who people who are uneducated but are highly literate e.g sant kabir.
4.There are people who people are uneducated and illiterate e.g politicians .

As far as female foeticide is concerned mostly highly educated people from high society an mostly WOMEN are  more involved in these can of acts and mostly.

Be the change you wish to see in the world.  Ghandi

I work with many girls from the age of 9 through 15.  They are all urban and range economically from poor to middle class.  We have talked quite a bit about relationships and sex.  Most of these girls see no correlation between a fetus and a living being.  They see abortion as birth control.  With all of the public messages out there, there seems to be very few geared to preventing conception or talking about pregnancy or abstinence.  It seems in the last several years all public announcements are directed at disease prevention but there is little one on one or class speak about a fetus actually being a living thing.  I personally believe this is because of the Women's Rights groups who want abortion to remain on demand.  That is all well and good but these young girls today do not understand what they are actually doing or that a fetus is alive.  There is no moral question they consider when trying to figure a way "out of it".  The belief today among young girls is that until a "baby" is born it is not alive or a person.
