sumaiya, first try to find the cause of your anxiety. Then ask yourself why this particular thing or event is causing your anxiety. Generally it is an unrealistic fear, one that when you look at it realistically makes absolutely no sense.
The old saying "we have nothing to fear but FEAR itself" is very true. Many times we build these fears up in our minds, with no validity to them.
Confront the fear head on and tell yourself that this fear is not going to control you, but rather YOU are going to control the fear. Then when you feel the anxiety building, put on a pair of tennis shoes and go run until you are so tired and relaxed that the fear has dissipated. If you can't run outside for various reasons, run in place in the house. Exercise is the greatest stress reliever in the world. Any kind of exercise. Whether it be jumping jacks, push ups, jumping rope, anything that wears you out will work. Once you deplete the build up of adrenaline that comes with anxiety attacks, you will be totally relaxed and refreshed, and able to think clearly.
I know this to be a fact, because any time something bothers me, makes me anxious or upsets me, I hit the pavement, or the workout quipment or just run in place. After 5 or 10 minutes I can already feel the anxiety ebbing from my body.
Don't under estimate the power of exercise, it is the most powerful tranquilizer on the face of the earth, unmatched when it come to pills. And it doesn't cost a dime! And your body will love you for it!! Try it and watch you anxiety fly out the window.
