EasyCap "how to record" question?

I'm using MS VISTA, dual core chip, 160GB HD, (trying) to use EasyCAP capture device I recently bought. I have the easycap plugged into a VCR (RCA plugs) trying to record VHS to digital. But on PC, I get no image, sound or anything to record. Following the EasyCap directions does not work either. What am I doing wrong?

You're connections seems to be perfectly fine. Did you succeed in capturing data from other media sources, like a DVD or a TV. Use the same RCA cable you've used on your Video. If it works fine, than the Video is damaged, If it doesn't, you ruled out the Video, and it's either the cable or the device itself. Change the cable and recheck. Still doesn't work?, post again, I'll try to help.

I'll try your recommendations. As an update, I'm using a HP VERVE laptop, the laptop recognizes the easyCAP when plugged in. When I try to record I get either an all black view screen or a black and white strip view screen on the Ulead program. And I change the 'source' to the easyCAP USB2.0 in the Ulead program.

I had problems with the EasyCap DC60+ USB video capture card recording only in B/W until I went to changed to NTSC_M as follows:

Capture Properties
Video Capture Filter
Properties
Video Standard
and set it to NTSC_M

Also I had to set the Windows Sound Driver to "Use only default devices" as follows:

Control Panel
Sounds and Audio Devices Properties
Audio
Select "Use only default devices"

hi if you go on to ulead software click capture and go to options and click on the option 2nd down you should come to a page that aloys you to change to compite s video and some thing else you have to go to compite then below it  you will have a selection from ntsc, pal or secam try them all until you find the right one

if that dont work put you disk in and insal the drivers

hope it works david
