Early Menopause

I am 33 years old and recently stopped taking my pill of which I have been taking for 17 years now. My periods have completely stopped now for 2 months, and were changing in the heaviness of my period a few months prior to me stopping the pill. I am at the moment getting hot flushes alot. Do you think it is too early for me to be going through the menopause or is this the result of me not taking my pill.

My period stopped for 6-7 months after i stopped taking the pill.

When you stop taking the pill, your body thinks you are "pregnant" in a way, and thus stops your period.

It takes a while for the body to figure out that it needs to restart generating some hormones that were in that pill.

Then again i was 22 when i stopped taking the pill.

I suggest you consult with a gynochologist, (the one who will not tell you that taking the pill will solve all your problems, because the pill itself is a source of many problems)

P.S.

After those 6 or 7 months ended, i had periods that lasted between 18-35 days.

Only after about a year of when i stopped taking the pill, my monthly cycle returned to normal.

So your period not being there, may just be a side effect of you not taking the pill anymore.
