Will an EGR reduce fuel mileage ...

Will an EGR reduce fuel mileage drastically? Is it a common item to change? Is a used one as good as a new OEM from Dodge and worth the money? What would you do? How do I get the bottom bolt out of the EGR valve without moving the alternator? 2005 Grand Caravan sxt, 3.8 dual air. Do I need to adjust anything after replacing this? Is there anything I need to know about this before I attempt it myself? Money is short & I am capable but not versed in this particular item. Any experienced help would be appriciated. Thanks

If you want it done and done right the first time do it yourself

the egr valve will affect your gas milage but not by much this will cause your car not to pass emision inspection a egr valve is not hard to change it is only 2 little screws a wire pluge and its out a new one may be $70 or less it is located at the top of your engine i belive at the back just match it up with the new one you cant confuse it for somthing else good luck

Thanks for the help. I see the bottom bolt is partially covered by the alternator. Does this need to be moved to get to the bottom bolt? or is there a magic tool I would need to get to it? Will the gasket(s) need to be purchased seperatly?

Thanks in advance.

you may need to loosen the alternator and move it a little you should not have to buy a gasket
