My dvd player will only play movies in black and white, not color. What caused that?

Sounds like the pixels in your DVD player are malfunctioning. It may not be worth taking it to a technician to repair it as DVD players are so cheap nowadays.
with s video, hd and all the other ways to connect your video, it sounds like you have plugged in your dvd player wrong. if you have an rca cable it is for regular dvd to t.v., otherwise you need to buy the special video cable to suit your needs.
