Should the "drinking age" be lowered to 18 in the US?

Lowered back to 18, you mean, since that what it was before.  I don't know.  I'd rather 18 to 21 year olds smoked pot.  It's a lot safer and more fun.

The drinking age in NZ is 18, and there is a large number of people that want it to go back to 21. We have a big problem with young people drink driving, and also with teenagers getting alcohol and drinking to excess.

The only things in life you regret are the risks you didn't take.


While part of me thinks if a person can go fight for his/her country at 18-years-old, he/she should be able to legally buy and drink alcohol. However, at the same time, I'd hate for the drinking age to be lowered and the drunk driving accidents to increase and more young people to die a premature death.

I think not. Lowering the drinking age will get even younger children trying to get alcohol. As for now there are already 18 year olds and lower aged kids who fake ID to get hold of it. Better leave it this way, what I think should be done is more education on the effects and harm it does especially when driving.
