Drinkable water in the USA

In what state of the United States can you drink the water right out of the tap??  Asking because I lived all my life where I could drink the well water and now have moved to a state that chlorinates and fluoridates the city water and well water is off limits.  I want to live where the water is drinkable.  Please help

Most any city, county, or state with a municipal water system has tap water that is safe to drink.  Some places such as Morristown Tennessee have water that is safe to drink, but the taste is not very good. The bottled water companies and filter sales people want you to think that there is something unhealthy about regular tap water.  I am 76 years old and have lived in many cities within many states and have never had a problem with the tap water.  The additives are required for better teeth for children and to be sure the water is safe to drink.  Many of the municipal water systems get some or all of their supply from wells.

They're drinking it up in New York

New York City's tap water has been called among the nation's freshest. It's so good that a young entrepreneur is bottling it and selling it for $1.50.
He and Flax knew that gas-guzzling trucks and planes were often used to ship bottled water across the country or from other parts of the world. They knew New York's system is almost entirely gravity-driven, delivering water without emitting greenhouse gases.
They figured enough people are suffering from a guilty water-gulping conscience to make Tap'd NY a hit.

Most any city/town (of any size) will have treated water.  To get the well water you you miss and want you will have to move out of town to the country areas that have wells.  That usually means one of the less populated states.  Oregon has a lot of well water in their satellite towns outlying areas...but the treated water lines are slowly expanding further and further away from the cities.  We are 6 miles out and have great well water....but with subdivision developements coming closer all the time the city water lines are coming, also.

Minnesota and Wisconsin have well water that can be consumed right from the tap.  But all city supplied water, even that comes from drilled wells, are treated when they enter the water towers.
