I want to hang a curtain on a wooden door with a glass windows. Is it possible to drill a screw straight into the wood with an Electric screwdriver , or should I drill a hole first?
Assuming the curtain is lightweight, you may use screws with a small diameter and screw directly into the wooden door. I would recommend either doing this manually or with the screwdriver set to minimum torque to reduce the risk of using excessive force which could make the screw turn in the hole and come out again...
Its much easier to drill a pilot hole slightly smaller in diameter to the screw you are using to a depth of about 1/2 inch - especially if the door is constructed of hardwood. You are less likely to have the screw go askew (at an {undesirable} angle.) There are coarse thread screws that are essentially "self tapping" that will work without drilling the pilot hole. Your appliction isn't all that critical so you could go either way. In either event - be sure to steer clear of the glass.

Beth hi, base on your description it seems that screwing will not effect the window and you can go ahead, for the best results (but not a must) you can drill before you start to screw, the hole of the drill need to be as small as possible from the size of the screw, hope its help
