Drilling without hitting an electricity line

You have 2 options:

1. Use your head- try an educated guess, knowing the wires run on a straight line. Look for the socket  nearest to the point you want to drill, and try to think where is the wire leading to that point. to make things easier, open the socket and find out the direction the wire goes.

2. You can get a special device "Electric Wire Detector" that does the job- you can buy it in most DIY and tool shop.

One of the simplest ways is to see if there is a wall socket on that wall. the chances are that the wires in level ( left & right or up & down ) with the socket. Is there a light just above the socket or a light switch, the wires will go left or right, up or down with respect to light switch\socket.

You can also take a simple COMPASS (E,N,W,S)  passing it along the wall, if the needle moves, the chances are that there is a wire.

There are also "stud" (metal reader) reader that u can buy. Read the directions.
