Dressing for an office Christmas party

What should I wear to an office Christmas party? Should I dress more conservatively than I would at other parties since I will be around co-workers?

MY inferiority complex isn't as good as YOURS

Nothing that is too revealing but definately something pretty that fits you perfectly and makes you feel comfortable.Depending on what you wear to other holiday parties (I'm guessing not two band-aids and a cork) you should be able to wear the same attire to your work party.Shift dresses are flattering and perfect for any occasion,or try a slightly above the knee skirt with tall boots.Good luck!

IMHO - no.

You should treat this as any other party, just make sure you don't drink too much.

People would expect you to be different than you are at the office.

Hi,

I think taking the conservative road would be best. You should try and find something classy that you feel comfortable in. Wearing something too revealing might come right back at you when you return to the office.

You also want to make a certain impression on your co-workers and you have to think to yourself what that impression is.

Anyhow, hope you have fun at the party.

I remember reading some article about dressing sexy for a Halloween office party a couple of month ago. The paper said - don't do it, even though it's a party and not work and it's a nice chance to meet people you work with in a less formal situation, the next day at work, everyone will still remember what went on in the party, and people might be effected by the memories to change their mind about you in office situations.

The whole office party issue is confusing - on one end it's a party, on the other it's office, it feels a little bit like a contradiction in term.

My suggestion, dress cooler then you would at work, like push on colors and style, but don't go too sexy or too wild. try to think of what you want your co-workers (and boss) to think about you and dress to match that impression.

Also, don't get drunk or anything like that, it's good to have fun, it's good to loosen up in moderation, but what goes on in office parties, doesn't always stay in office parties...

A simple black dress is always perfect and in style.  You can wear it alone or dress it up with jewelry or a scarf.  You can also get your hair done in a fancy "up" style just for that night.
