Doxie hot spot

My 3 year old doxie has a small hot spot that I have treated and it has scabbed over..my problem is the scab has hair in it (I thought I trimmed enough around the spot, but apparently not). My question is: does the scab need to come off and start all over again???

Let the wound under the scab heal before probing into the hair issue, that's the idea of the scab :-)

Hairs growing is not necessarily indicative of a problem or of a lack of a problem. Once the scab falls off (it's better if it falls in its own, and there might be another, smaller scab that replaces it), take a closer look. If the skin seems complete and there are no cuts or ooze - I don;t think you should be worried.

However, I am not a professional, and if you're really worried, go see someone who is.

not at all!  it is perfectly fine that ther is hair in it.  removing the scab will only hurt your dog.  If it is scabbing up, then it is healing.  Dont worry about the hairs!  That often happens when dogs get scabs.  just let it heal up, and when the scab falls off, so will those hairs trapped in the scab.

I wish your doxie a speedy recovery! :)
