Dog saves kids from other dogs

A Jack Russel Terrier saved five kids from two raging Pit Bulls. This is not mean feat for a small dog, and shows devotion that would melt the coldest heart.

I'm more concerned with the Pit Bulls. Are we now going to have a mass campaign against Pit Bulls and their owners?

Is there something to be done?

It sucks, but havent you noticed that people are already campaigning against pit bulls?  They are banned in Dublin, Ireland, and will be put down if anyone brings their pit in the city.  They are banned in Spain (along with Akitas, domermans, great danes, and mastiffs) and in some parts of the USA you cant get home owners insurance if you own a pit.  (this happens in dallas, texas).

People are STUPID.  Pit Bulls are actually known as "nanny dogs" because they are so sweet and good to people.  they rate as high as golden retreivers on temperment tests.  The problem is that people that abuse dogs seem to think that pit bulls are the "coolest" dogs to abuse.  so then the poor dogs become agressive and everyone blames the breed instead of the sick abusive owners.  As my friend says "BLAME THE DEED, NOT THE BREED!"

I hope pits are around for a long long time!  We love them!

What comes around goes around.

that story is absolutely inspiring!

it's interesting that no one seems to bring up the way a dog is raised. the whole nature vs. nurture theory that is taught in psychology. most dogs, including pit bulls, are raised a certain way, which is reflective of their owners' behavior. even though a pit bull may be predisposed to aggressive behavior, with the right owner, and the right training, all dogs, including pit bulls, can be amazing companions.

ofc ourse it is nature vs nuture.  pit bulls are naturally very sweet dogs.  occasinally one will have a dog agression, which is VERY different from being agressive towards people.  It is only when people abuse their poor animals that the dogs become people agressive because they think all people are out to harm them.  As a psychologist I can tell you that people will also develop similar responses if raised in a violent environment.  Pit Bulls are not naturally mean.  Mean people make some of them mean.  But some of the sweetest, most passive dogs I know are pits!  And I have met some really mean dalmatians, golden retrievers, and many many mean boston terriers.

9 thumbs up

True true to all the above, really fantastic comments.

It's how they're raised. Example: We don't put bad children down do we!!! To a certain degree the parents are punished not the children.

Why so different for animals, what ever breed. The owners should be punished and not the pets.
