Dog potty training

I have a new puppy , I had dogs before this one and potty training took a month or two. My training was simple every time the dog would "go" in the house I would have shown him what he has "done" and yell on him, and every time he would "go"in a walk I petted him and gave a treat.

This time the vet told me about a new way to train the pup, he said that every time I leave the house I should put him in a relatively small cage and take him out when I come back. This way he won't go in the cage ( for some reason ) and he would be happier ( I have no clue way ) , if any one TRIED (it is better if you can compare) this system before please let me know.

Someday it'll all make sense.

We have a pug that is trained this way. He always stays in his crate. Even when we are home he stays in his crate because we have a 75 lb weimaraner that harasses him every chance he gets.

In the morning when I let the pug out of his cage, he runs toward the backyard and knows to go out there. If we don't let him out often enough, he will still potty in his cage.

The rationale behind keeping the dog in his crate is the fact that dogs do not like to soil the place where they sleep. The crate is supposed to be his private sanctuary.

I was having the same problem. I purchased a small system from a company online. Doggie Bidet. The system came with a simple solution training aid. I'm not sure if this will work for your situation. All dogs are different and they have different issues.

They have a great return policy. They told me if it didn't work they would refund me my money. It has a lush faux grass that is thick like real grass outdoors. Sometimes I can even take it with me while on vacation. It just worked out great for me.

You can also add it to a crate so that you don't have a messy clean up problem. The system was a miracle to me. I saved on monthly rug cleaning. No messy newspapers all over the house and the system came out beautiful. Look at them online and see what you think. Doggie Bidet..or bidetdoggie.. something like that.
