Answer 4 out of 9

A:

my whippet greyhound mix has an anal gland problem. the glands sometimes have a problem expressing them selves when the dog goes potty, as a result they can "back up" with fluid and eventually become infected! (not pretty).. glands are located at 4o'clock and 8 o'clock in the dogs rectum. youll need to express them yourself at home to releive them for your dog,(use gloves)... or take them to the vet probably for the remainder of the dogs life if its like mine. my dog scootches her rump across my carpet alot, especially when shes excited, used to think this was worms...its not. also a higher fiber diet may help, to increase stool size as this will help express the glands during bowel movement.
