my adopted shih tzu just ate about four mini blocks of hersheys chocolate, shes eaten chocolate before, but i cant remember what happened. help? advice? I'd reallly, reeally, appreciate it.
I don't know how big are mini blocks of hershey's, but it could be quite a lot for such a small dog. Take a look at this link for more information, but here's the most relevant part from that site:
Using a dose of 100 mg/kg as the toxic dose it comes out roughly as:
1 ounce per 1 pound of body weight for Milk chocolate1 ounce per 3 pounds of body weight for Semisweet chocolate1 ounce per 9 pounds of body weight for Baker's chocolate.
Move the chocolate -- it can kill a dog. You can call an emergency vet to ask what you should do in the meantime.
I'm not sure why, but chocolate is VERY bad for dogs. Can make them very sick or even kill them. They can not digest some of the ingrediants in chocolate.
Dogs can eat chocolat but not to much r they well get sick
