Can a dog who digest a flea get worms which would cause bright red bleeding after a bowel movement? This blood is not in his stool but passed after he finished his stool.
There is a possibility of hemorroids or tearing of the rectum with bright red blood. At any rate, a visit to the vet is in order.
Vet believed that he had some sort of intestinal virrus which was causing dirarreha and the straining was causing the bleeding. Was given an anti-diarrheal gel. Symptoms cleared after a couple of days. Dog seems fine now.
