my dog ate a bar of dark chocolate. he is spinning like a top. what do i do now?

My latest fad diet: the Apple-a-Day Plan!

Contact an emergency veterinarian immediately.  I'm not a pet health professional -- but I have found plenty of information that chocolate is dangerous to a dog's health or life.  See, for example, two documents from the ASPCA, here and here.

Theobromine, one of the ingredients of

Chocolate may cause severe

intoxication if consumed in large amounts (lethal amounts are 200-500 mg/kg) but pathological signs may appear with smaller amounts.

contact your veterinarian immediately.

...if a dog gets chocolate poisoning, it will exhibit signs of nervousness, hypertension, diarrhea, urinary incontinence (uncontrollable urination), panting, excitement, seizures or even death. You have to call or take the dog to the vet immediately you see these symptoms...
