I have an Australian Shepherd that is almost 10 years old. I have noticed that since we moved into a house with carpet where she likes to lie, she has been producing this horrible odor. The smell will gag a maggot; it gets really bad at times. She is groomed and bathed regularly, bit it seems that she has this obsession with licking the carpet. I wonder if something in the carpet dye is causing this odor. She does not appear to have any fleas or ticks and we use medicine for that regularly as well. Does anyone know if Aussies have a problem with their anal glands or if the carpet licking can be causing the odor? Any ideas will be appreciated.
