dear dog expert. My dog follows me everywhere. If I get up to go somewhere, she follows me. When I am stationery, She stands in front of me. She is usually not to far away. It comforts me. I am curious as to why she does this?
Dogs are incredibly social creatures. They crave companionship, particularly human companionship. In dog magazines like K9 Magazine you will see advice from experts who discuss this very subject. Because not all dogs do it. Even dogs who are litter mates, sometimes their personalities with regard to their desire to 'lock' with a human are very different. it's a fascinating topic.
always remember, people who kick people while their down DON'T STAY STANDING VERY LONG THEMSELVES!!!, HELP SOMEONE IF THEY TRULY NEED IT, (HELP, NOT ENABLE)!!!
are you the only person living with the dog?, if you are leave something next to your dog, something you wore the day before like a t-shirt, and say (I'LL BE RIGHT BACK), say it over & over again, within a week your dog will trust these words1(I'LL BE RIGHT BACK)..HOPE THIS HELPS!

We had the same situation before my dog died. I felt I was not alone everywhere I go. He just sit and stands there and waited for me.. He guard me. I miss my dog...
Don't worry about your dog. She just loves you and guard you. She don't want you to be alone.
the reason why the dog is following you is because you trained your dog to beaware like when it was a puppy probaly when you noticed something you probaly pointed it out to your dog
Maybe she feels safer whenever you're beside her and she's having separation anxiety when she's not seeing you around her but whatever the case maybe, it really feels great when our pet dog prefers our company than anything or anyone else.
However, you can reassure her by making her stay in a room by herself for a few minutes at a time, and then returning and praising her for staying there. Reward her with treats, dog toys , this works for many dogs. You could also try crate training. You could leave her alone ,in her crate for short periods until she gets used to the idea that you will always return.
Your dog needs to learn to be on her own sometimes. You can achieve this by having a "child gate" and leaving her in full view of you but not too close to you. By allowing her to follow you around does not mean that she is "totally in love" with you it means that you have not taught her confidence to be on her own, she is a very stressed little dog and you need to find a good behaviourist in your area to instruct you to help yur dog. What age is she?
