dear dog expert. My dog follows me everywhere. If I get up to go somewhere, she follows me. When I am stationery, She stands in front of me. She is usually not to far away. It comforts me. I am curious as to why she does this?

Your dog is board it needs to exercise on a regular schedule. Give your dog some purpose besides staring at you. It worked for me.

Oh your so Blessed to have your dog do that. I had to put our

104 lb. lab/pit mix  to sleep last Feb. he was sick. I wish he was here to follow me and be everywhere I am. Your her/his pack leader. Watch the dog whisper, he explains all that "pack" stuff. I have learned alot watching him and seeing how quick some dogs learn. It's good program. and so are many others ones like "The Dog Whisper"

It is a simple answer.  Your doggie LOVES YOU!!  I 'am a over-the-road truck driver, and when I and her, get out of the truck,  SHE FOLLOWS ME EVERYWHERE!!  Your doggie, just wants be with you, it's that simple!  DanB.

Are you ok with this behavior?  My dog used to do it and I think it was a seperation behavior thing.  I stopped it by putting gates up in the house in certain places, like in front of the bathroom and bedroom so he could not follow me there.  In time he stopped following me.  But he still is by my side when I am sitting watching tv at night and he sleeps with me, which I am fine with.  I do think that it can also be a dominating behavior though and you don't want that, because then he thinks you are part of his pack rather than the other way around, and it can cause more behavior problems.

Your dog loves you that is why it is following you. Dogs have this fear of being left by their humans every time their humans leave. So i guess the fact that your dog is following you is a manifestation of that fear

It would be good to teach your dog the "stay" command.  I know my dog loves me and I surely love my dogs but I don't want them under foot all the time, like when I am in the bathroom or cleaning house.  Dogs can get hurt that way.  I have accidently stepped on my dogs paws several times from him following me everywhere.  That's why I don't allow it during certain times.  And I think that by allowing your dog to continue to do it, is encouraging his/her insecurity.  Its good for a dog to lie down and sleep a lot during the day.

I think its seperation anxiety, my dog had the same problem. If I left the room for more than about 20 min, she got agitated and started barking. You need to train her to calm down.
