To be sure, the new investigations into particle physics will yield new questions as well as new answers. People doing high-energy physics are doing it because they care about you, and you will benefit from it, as you already have (the WWW was launched at CERN). You are disparaging your benefactors, for which, in Dante's Inferno, you would be placed in one of the cold levels of Hell, buried in ice, near the devil himself. That sounds reasonable to me.
