Doctors prone to fall sick

Are doctors prone to fall sick more than others because they come close or in touch with their patients?

I think the reality is the complete opposite.  Doctors get sick less than the average person because they are exposed constantly to all sorts of diseases, therefore strengthening their immune system.  Most doctors are also better at taking care of themselves than the average person, and if they do start to get sick, they have access to any medicine they think will help them.  Of course, a doctor is always at risk of being exposed to some strange disease that a patient is carrying, but this hardly ever happens.  And if it did, they doctor would have the best and immediate care.

GIVE a man a fish and you feed him for a day. TEACH a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

SADLY, most fishermen are afraid to touch the worm.

In general, doctors generally don't fall ill as often as the general public, despite "increased exposure."

The reason for this is so simple, most people simply can't accept the reality.

Doctors, nurses and other such health care workers avoid illnesses by the simple expedient of washing their hands 40 times a day, after each exposure, before eating, after any "body functions" and after contact with each patient.

There is some speculation that such exposures also help to strengthen the immune system. Personally, I believe there may well be some truth to this, having watched/treated children who's parents were hyper-over protective as opposed to parents that knew children get dirty, have scrapes and bruises, etc. etc.

In general, the "precious jewels" who are "protected" from everything are weaker and and less able to fight off the normal ills of childhoood. This also seems to hold for adults.

In my day job I write about Blood Pressure Treatment and treat those who suffer from blood pressure problems. Low blood pressure is a particular interest and I'm often asked about how to lower cholesterol levels. A healthy heart is becoming a huge focus for many of us nowadays. Improving your blood pressure control and thus the health of your heart and circulation system is really important. My most recent online "adventure" is to start a facility for people to ask me my opinion and to provide high quality health information by answering medical questions online.

I also have a special interest in the problem of feeling Tired All the Time and in those who suffer from chronic fatigue or lethargy. This seems to tie in also to skin care issues or skin treatment problems and suggestions. Tiredness and fatigue can lead to major problems for many individuals in modern society and the way that this can affect all areas of general health can be quite invasive in terms of daily life and coping skills.

My work with footballers and athletes leads to a focus on Painful Shoulder conditions and on the problems associated with frozen shoulder or whiplash injuryRotator cuff injury causes problems for many of my patients.

When not working I daydream about my next amazing european vacation trip  My favorite European cities include Paris and Barcelona and my next blog project will be to write about the best way to spend a night in Paris and how to find an apartment in Barcelona. I just love European travel in all its forms.

I agree with all of the above - strangely enough it seems that doctors get sick no more often than the rest of the population.
