Should I feel guilty if I like the Dixie Chicks? They won five Grammy awards, so I'm not the only one who likes their music. But what Natalie Maines said about President Bush may have gone too far. What do you think?
Should one feel guilty if he or she likes Der Ring des Nibelungen, by Richard Wagner's, Hitler's favorite composer? Or Jane Fonda's Workout video, by the actress who made an Anti-American propaganda tour in North Vietnam, the enemy country of her nation, at the time of war between them?
I believe that some talented artists might be very lousy thinkers and that one might enjoy their art while ignoring their ideological or political agenda.

The Dixie Chicks are great! and that's coming from someone out of the US. It's true that they've been really harsh on president Bush but as you probably know it's popular to hate Bush.
If you're a fan the "chicks" are releasing a documentary DVD (made by Barbara Kopple)- "Shut up & sing" in the 20th of FEB. The movie follows their tours since 2003 to 2006- it's a must!!!
I probably should rent that DVD. It could help me learn more, so that I can decide.
I just came across their Entertainment magazine cover, which just confuses me more. Sex and politics: a dangerous combination?
No need to feel guilty about liking the Dixie Chicks. Many Americans feel as though President Bush and his administration lied to Americans (and the World) about Iraq having wepons of mass destruction (WMDs). (We were told that Iraq had stockpiles of WMDs, but after 4 years of war and searching not even one has been found.) Natalie has the courage to say what many of us feel. I encourage you to enjoy the music guilt-free.
Thanks for all of your perspectives.
