I personally have never been through a divorce , have witnessed a couple in the circle of friends . If you and your spouse can reach a civil agreement on mutual property , parenting arrangements if children are involved you might get away with not using an attorney . However , I am of the opinion this is not a good ideal . Statistics seem to show that amicable divorces are few and far between . Seems to have a direct link to the cause of the divorce . Someone perhaps both is hurt and angry , which in turn creates conflict , confrontation and sometimes revenge . So this is something you will have to think about . If in fact there is resentment , hurt and anger which is the case more than not then I'd say you need a divorce attorney to protect yourself and any children involved . And don't use the same attorney .
