What is the distinction between fruit and vegetable?

That's not entirely correct. The fruit is actually the fertilized ovary of the flower, that contains the seeds. Vegetable is a word used by people in general to distinguish between stuff like peaches appples etc and cucmbers, tomatos etc. In botany there is no such thing as a vegetable

Fruit are the ones with seeds.

The rest of them are vegetables.

What I learned in biology,  was that the main distinction between a fruit and vegetable was that when you ate a vegetable, the rest of the plant dies with it, you are eating the main part of the plant.  but on a fruit the plant stays well and alive, because you are just eating basically a seed holder for the plant.
