Discovercard just sent me an INTENT TO SUE letter.

Discovercard just sent me an INTENT TO SUE letter. What should I do if I don't have a job?

I called them, trying to explain my situation, & the man was very hostile & abusive @ 1st but then turned out to be a little nicer, but he said he can't accept a small amount of $$. I'm disabled & receive SSI & Social Security. Only $657/mo. total. My rent is 1/2 of that. 3 & 4 yrs. ago, I was making ALL payments on time until Hurricane Katrina. I have been stuck & struggling ever since, trying to replace my losses. & he tried to say Hurricane Katrina was my fault. No one cares. They don't care if I'm struggling for survival & DYING!

I'm willing to pay all the & student loans I owe, but no one wants to hire me because I appear to be mentally "slow" to them. I suffer Tourette's, OCD, anxiety, & depression, & I'm about to have a panic attack, & tears are starting run down my face.

It's people like you that bankruptcy helps the most.  Go that route.

40 thumbs up

try a debt consolidation company, they generally get better results when talking to debt collectors. also, depending on your location, i.e., state or province, as long as you show good intent to pay the bills, they should take whatever you offer. remember, it has to be with good intent, so $5 probrably won't cut it. bankruptsy is an option, but generally student loans are not included and you still have them to pay off. talk to a representative from the soc sec office or ssi and someone there should be able to at least point you in the rite direction.

Its ok! I know it seems as though life is crashing down on you, but it's not.  The goverment and others may want everything, but they can't kill you or take YOU away.  I'm in the same predicament.  I have a son and no way to pay for any of my credit card debt or my hospital bill of over $16,000. You're not alone. Listen to Chris. $5 isn't going to do anything, but maybe $20 or $30/m if you deal with a debt consolidation company.  You'll get thru this. I promise!

I feel your pain. We were going through the same thing as you, and decided that Bankruptcy was the best thing for us. I know that seems like the easy way out but sometimes we just don't have a choice. Until our economy gets better, we seen no other choice. Good luck with what ever you choose to do
