Disabling touch pad

Any ideas of how to disable touch pad while typing ? Occasionally it will move the cursor to other text box, because I accidentally pressed it. I'm using MSI M650 with an external mouse.

There is never a good time to buy a new computer.

Let's see...right-click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and choose "Properties".  This opens the System Properties window.  Go to the "Hardware" tab and the click the "Device Manager" button. See if the touch pad is listed separately under "Mouse" or "Keyboard".  If it isn't listed obviously as "TouchPad" don't play with the settings in here.

You might want to just put a request in to MSI support or check their knowledge base forum

And it would probably be good to double check the model number.  I could see different M Series laptops in there, but I didn't see anything listed as M650.

There should be a either be a touch pad icon in the sys tray (lower right corner) or you might want to look for something in the Settings/Control Panel area.

I've checked the control panel and found only my external mouse. Neither does the system tray have options regarding the touch pad. Any other ideas?

Thank you soooo much for this answer which is elementary except when you don't know how to do it! I could have saved hours had I found you and your simple solution which is not shown ANYwhere else.

Many blessings to you for your sharing!
