Disabled person wanting to purchase home

I am on social security disability. Had good credit until my work related injury as a state employee in 2004, now credit in poor condition with bankruptcy in 2008. 4 years in navy. What are the chances off purchasing a home. Currently own a mobile home renting a lot? Income $1400.00 monthly. Pending settlement with workman's compensation.

Lenders require 2 years from a Chapter 7's discharge before issuing a mortgage. That's the bad news. The good news is there are a ton of desperate home sellers who will give you owner financing in order to sell a home. Most require 10% as a down payment. Many will even give you a great interest rate. Your best bet is with someone that has little or no mortgage on their home. Good luck.

Here are some useful links for information on bankruptcy , debt consolidation and for getting help with credit card debt .

I think if you have a big enough down payment then anything is possible.  If you are trying to buy right after bankruptcy with little down payment then that would be quite a hard task I am afraid.
