I need a 9v 500ma power supply.
Radio Shack has a 800ma
Will that "burn up" my clock? or will it still work fine?
No. Electrical current (i.e., the "ma") is drawn by the load (i.e., your device). If the power supply has higher capacity than the load requires, the extra capacity is simply not used. The device could be damaged by plugging it in to a higher voltage power supply, but using a power supply with a higher current rating will not damage anything.
My name is Max Stout.
Ask for me by name.
Exactly, dyett. A further analogy would be using a vacuum cleaner. Some operate at higher current levels (amperes or "amps") than others. The line voltage may be the same (i.e 110v-120v) but the current may vary.
You've got the "go-ahead" from me as well.
Regards from Max
The800ma supply will work just fine. Be sure the polarity is correct. This is usually the same for the same plug. but you might want to check or ask about this at radio shack.
