Diet Pills for my Cat

I have a cat that is really fat (I think he weighs more than 22 pounds). Can I give him diet pills so that he loses some of the weight?

I don't think there are really diet pills that work, and even if there were, I wouldn't give them to a cat.

You should probably switch to low fat food, and try to get your cat to do some exercise. Try putting the food in a different place every time, and in higher places, so that he has to "hunt" the food. Limit your cat to one brand, and only dry food (it can be premium, but no treats). If the food is less "interesting" the  cat will eat less.

Oh, poor Garfield;o) You should bring him to the vet, maybe he has some problem with accumulating fat. Cats aren´t so active (unless there are mice to chase after;o) I think the vet can give you a better advice. Good luck!

This is what you should feed your cat ..small amounts throughout the day, always fresh water in very clean bowl (up to your own standards of drinking).

Follow the links for each food category.

2.

play with your cat (a laser pointer (not point at any eyes- blindness) but they love to chase it around.

3. some cats need more affection, attention.  pet it, and be his buddy.

good luck - save your cat!

Are there diet pills for a cat?  Have heard if you give so much as an aspirin you can kill a cat.  I did this once without knowing; he lived to be about 18 yrs.  There are soo many "don'ts" today for our dear furry friends (onions can kill them, etc.) yet the outdoors cats eat a whole bird, feathers and all....the pet business today is BIG business.  Get a harness and bring kitty outdoors in a grassy area; they love grass.  My 1-cat Persian household was recently added to with 1 more cat....who is a very active - also a Persian.  (They're known to be very laid-back cats.)  At least it gets Cat 1 to run around a bit when being chased....she hasn't taken to the situation without protest yet the exercise is good.  Cat 2 eats whatever she doesn't ;  also good.  Your vet is probably the best person to advise you.  Surely some cat food is better for your fat cat than others.  Good luck!

I WOULD NOT give a cat nor a dog pills to lose weight.

You might want to start feeding him smaller meals and exercise with him if possible
