Drink 2 to 3 litres of water per day to dilute urine. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables (cherries and pineapple are great). Avoid aspirin, caffeine and other diuretics, alcohol (especially beer). Avoid completely foods high in purines (offal, game, anchovies, sardines, herring, mackerel, scallops, meat extracts). Skipping meals and crash diets are both dangerous for gout sufferers - fasting increases the blood levels of uric acid.

Manuka natural remedies
(deleted account)

We have received anecdotal evidence from several customers that Manuka honey is an effective treatment for the early stages of gout, in the following proportions: 1 tablespoon of Manuka honey, 1 tablespoon of Safflower oil, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water. Take this night and morning.

Pure Manuka honey is available from www.manu.co.nz

I recently went to a new doctor and noticed he was located in something called the Professional Building. I felt better right away.

During the last week of July, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the drug Colcrys to treat acute flairs in patients with gout. The medication’s active ingredient is colchicine, which has been used by healthcare practitioners for many years to treat gout but had not been approved by the FDA. For more information see this web site.
