A 2 ct. diamond is a great size, I realize. Without sounding like I'm asking too much, what is the best way to make it appear more like a 3 ct. solitaire? I know that's large, but when my mom passed away her 3 ct ring went to a sibling. I received a lovely 2 ct in another form, but my sister and I want our rings to look as much like the same size as possible. Hers is a 3 ct diamond solitaire. Thanks
You can do several things.1. Remount in a setting with illusion top or setting which has small diamonds around so when reset it looks like one large 3ct or better...2, you can seek a jeweler or will take stone in trade for a 3 ct stone, hope this was some help.

The best thing is to buy a new 3 ct loose diamond and try to sell the 2 ct. We sell nice diamonds at www.verifiedbuy.com and may be we can help you.

I'm not sure if you've ever heard of a setting called the "Angels Halo", but this is probably the best way to make your solitaire diamond look larger by surrounding it with a circle of smaller diamonds set in gold or platinum. There a company called G3 Jewelry that makes custom diamond rings and can easily remove your stone and place it in this setting.

To be honest with you, a 2 ct diamond won't look like 3 ct and that's why there is a big difference in price. On occasions, a 2 ct diamond can be "spreadish" (have a big table), and that will make it appear larger - nevertheless, it will have an effect on its shine and reflect. You were suggested to surround it with small diamonds - it's a good idea.Another idea is to set it within a white gold / platinum ring surrounding it (place the diamond inside a cup). It's usually done with earrings, but still, if you must...
I think that all of the games of making it seem larger would eventually look less beautiful than the classic solitaire ring (even if it's 2 ct).
Good luck!

2Ct diamond also look very good so I dont think it's need to sell off or needs to be fitted with other diamonds.
