"The pill simply gives you the amount of insuline your body (pancreas) is not producing..... Above all: You MUST go on a proper strict diet and do sports sports sports.... Don't forget: Diabetic is a silent killer. "

Not to be disagreeable, but at this time there are no "insulin pills." The various oral meds currently in use help the body better utilize the insulin that the body does make.
As you say, diet is critical and the main culprit are carbohydrates.
Of course refined sugar is deadly, and sugared soft-drinks are absolutely deadly.
Exercise is also a major benefit to the diabetic (again, in agreement with our comments).
As you say, it's a silent killer, and it is VERY rarely given as the "cause of death" (because it causes other systemic breakdowns) and so isn't perceived, like cancer or AIDS, as a major killer.
The two major systems (among others) that diabetes attacks are kidneys and eyesight, so pay close attention to those.
Fortunately, if properly treated, Diabetes is generally not life altering and you can (again, with treatment and care) continue your normal activities as you see fit (I spend all morning at the shooting range today, my first love.)
If necessary LEAN on the doctor to take action and give you the education you need to deal with the disease. A doctor, just like the guy who changes your tires, is being paid to provide you a SERVICE. If his service is NOT good, then it's time to demand better service, or find a different doctor (recalling that my brother is a doctor, and he agrees with this). There is also a huge amount of data on the 'net so you can study up on your own. The caveat, as with most things internet, is that there's a lot of bull and scare propaganda out there and you have to learn how to sift through the junk to find the pearls.
