Depleted Uranium Ruled Out as Potential Cause of Gulf War Illness

How do I comment upon this false and misleading piece "A painful lesson in the health risks of modern warfare" by retired Marine and City of Torrance Fleet Services Manager Dave Winnett, Jr?

Depleted Uranium was ruled out as a cause for Gulf War Illness years ago.  Retired Captain Winnett, though, is still peddling the same line that began with Saddam Hussein's propaganda in mid-90s that fell upon fertile ground with US/European peace/anti-nuclear activists.  Research into Gulf War Illness has progressed to the point that Dr Beatrice Golomb at the UC San Diego School of Medicine has progressed to having clinical trials of a medication http://gulfstudy.ucsd.edu/ . Clearly, retired Captain Winnett has not kept up with the information that he claims to be "expert" on.  If I were a tax payer in the City of Torrance, I would also wonder why Fleet Services Manager Winnett has city time and resources to work on this "hobby" of his.

As a member of this year's Congressionally Directed Medical Research (CDMRP) panel for Gulf War Illness Research, held in Reston Virginia October 27-30th, 2009, I can assure you that DU has NOT been ruled out as a potential cause of Gulf War Illness.  By the way, I traveled there on my vacation time, at no expense to my employer.  It cost me money to go.  And this is not my "hobby".  It’s about helping over 100,000 sick Gulf War Veterans.  You might have also read in my article that DU is not the only possible cause of Gulf War Illness.  Nor do I recall stating that I am an "expert" as you have suggested.  I'm just a Veteran who lives with chronic illness that may be related to my service.  And yes, I am familiar with Dr. Golomb's studies.  You've made quite a few unwarranted and uninformed assumptions that I think are very mean-spirited.  By the way, my name is David Winnett, what is yours?  Or do prefer to remain anonymous so that you can attack people who are trying to do some good?  Come out of the shadows and man-up, or don't bother with your cowardly attacks on my integrity.  David K. Winnett, Jr. Captain, USMC (Ret.)

....and how would you know about Dr. Golumb's studies?  Hmmmm.  Kind of narrows down who you probably are.  I have a hunch.
