Deep wound urgent care needed

I have a female Sheltie that has been in a fight. I also didnot see any lacerations or open areas the day of the fight. But 4 days later she had a huge gaping wound, much like you described about your German Shepherd. The vet surgically cleaned it and stitched it up inside and out. The outside stitches little by little have all popped. I have been using colloidal silver on it and orally for her. Also giving her echinacea twice daily. To keep her quiet I have been giving her Rescue REmedy and valerian, either in a piece of cheese or in her food. She won't eat her kibble, so I have been giving her some canned puppy food, (higher in protein) or scrambled eggs, with diluted chicken broth to make it soupy. She likes that, Today tho she only ate a small amount of it. I have tried an Elizabethean Collar on her but it is usless. A Shelties neck is bigger than their head, so she just takes her foot and knocks it off. I made a makeshift wide collar from a folded newspaper and tape and she will leave that on fora while. I am trying to keep her from getting to it. I am going to try to find the ingredients you mentioned in your article. It is on her rump. Her tail wagging is what started the external stitches to pop out. The vet is aware of this and said she expected it to happen. I feel like I have to do more for her than what the vet is doing. Any further ideas. And if I do try to dress it. how do you think I should do it. I thought of using an ace wrap to h old other sterile dressing material in place , but not sure how to wrap it. I was thinking of sort of a figure 8 wrap in and around her back legs. What do y ou think. Thanks for any ideas. Sandy

Sandy, if you think your vet is not being proactive enough about caring for your dog, take your dog to another vet. Also, your idea about using a sterile wrap in a figure eight might work to cover the wound. I would suggest trying it and see how it works out. Good luck.
