Debt Collectors and SSD/SS

My fiance just filed and was awarded bankruptcy. Now for one of the accounts, they are coming after me as a Joint Account holder. I live on Social Securiy Disability (Kidney transplant) and Social Security (from my deceased ex husband)and that is it. Can they garnish that or collect from me? I do not even remember signing to be a Joint Account holder, I believe I was only a person who had a card. I have to go to court soon and am just wondering if they can take any of my SS or SSD. Thanks so much in advance.

No they can't garnish the social security check BUT they CAN levy on your bank account.  Open a different account than you have ow and have your direct deposit go there, and do NOT mention this account on an applications, credit apps, anywhere, or they will find it and garnish it.

Find out what they have that says your responsible. You can make them show a copy of what they have. He may of signed your name to something. Also make him make the payments on that account for you.  Thay need to go to court to do anything to you and you will be served papers so you can show up in court also.
