Dea of Affairs' duties

What does the Dean of Affairs of a college do? A mutual friend has suggested that I would be a good assistant to this person.

hi!

Well in the states there is no such thing as just a dean of Affairs.  Now would it be one of the following:

A Dean of Students is usually the main person on any campus, whose responsibilities lie in residence life, housing, and judicial affairs.  A Dean of Student Affairs, is a person in charge of student life, mainly the student center, student activities on campus and sometimes the recreation center.

If you have leadership expertise or experience in any of these areas of the campus, then you probably would be a good assistant.  Deans are usually fairly busy people. The assistant needs to be thorough, responsible and know just as much as the Dean and be able to keep track of what goes on around the campus.

Hope this helps!  Keep me updated:)

Indoctrinate U - Our Education/Their...

Once I saw the film, I had to support it by purchasing the DVD. It cost me about $22.00 but the film is independant so it's support, rather than a rip-off. You can get your own downloaded copy for about $10 when you visit the website store: http://indoctrinate-u.com/pages/welcome.html Indoctrinate U, Evan Coyne Maloney's much anticipated documentary exposing the anti-intellectual, intolerant culture of our nation's campuses, is finally here. Early versions of the film won prizes and international critical acclaim. Maloney has been called "a Michael Moore, only with integrity." And the film has been dubbed "a call to action" that will "shock the conscience of Americans in the best sense, through exposure to truth and logic." Now, just in time for graduation, the film America needs to see has arrived. Released in Spring, 2007, Indoctrinate U is already creating a major buzz. The film was featured on Hannityís America Sunday, March 18, 2007. Advance media coverage of Indoctrinate U and its short film predecessor Brainwashing, has been enormously positive and encouraging. London's Daily Telegraph has called the film "as slick and incisive as anything by Michael Moore," and predicts that it "will lay bare the hypocrisy of what he calls the most self-righteous people in America - and possibly cost them millions of dollars." The New York Sun calls Maloney the "conservative answer to Michael Moore," and observes that the film is expected "to emerge as a breakout theatrical hit." The Chronicle of Higher Education notes that Maloney's movie has a powerful "immediacy" to it, allowing us to "see the people who feel they have been discriminated against and the hurt on their faces as they tell their stories." And a critic writing for Hollywood's Ain't It Cool News pronounced the film to be "one of the most "horrifying and hysterical documentaries I have ever seen." Long awaited and incredibly timely, Indoctrinate U is the documentary event of the year. Every parent, student, and taxpayer in America should see this film. The future of our higher education system depends on it.
