A baby is God's opinion that life should go on

Sandburg, Carl

Danica Mckellar picture Winnie Cooper

Danica Mckellar, who was Winnie Cooper in The Wonder Years certainly grew up, and has published a book entitled Math Doesn't Suck: How to Survive Middle-School Math Without Losing Your Mind or Breaking a Nail.

Supposedly this will offer a role model for girls other than the one posed by such celebrities as Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan.

But how can she seriously claim to offer a different role model and convince any teenager that smarts are better than looks, when she poses half naked all over the net?

This picture is being sold on ebay!

I don't think you are right to condemn her for looking like that, and she certainly can't be faulted that people sell her picture on ebay!

You're worse than she is, because you claim she shouldn't be beautiful if she wants to be smart. and she can be both!

She's an awesome person. I spent a couple days with her at Sundance back in 2002 right when she was doing press for an indie film she'd shot and funded herself about an autistic boy, and she was telling me then about her Calculus theorems. She's very caring and serious about helping people. Doing some sexy photos in no way diminishes that.

Imagination is the root of all knowledge.

So, to exalt the mind you must shamefully hide the body?  Since we must live within these bodies for our entire lifetime, I don't think that shame against our bodies is a healthy idea to teach to the younger generations.

The fact is she claims to be "a different kind of role model"unlike Paris and Lindsey, well as it is no crime to pretty, should you really exploit yourself and your body?  While her book may help children she is in no way a role model for children. I think all responsible parent who are teaching their children to have MORALS have a legitament reason for being concerned! Just because your pretty doesn't mean you have to be trashy!
