Does Danah Boyd have any connection to Israel? Does she speak (and more important does she read/write) Hebrew?

Is she acknowledged as a very important writer or is it only me that adores what she has to say? Danah's site

Think with your head, not your a$$.

According to her website, there's no indication that she speaks, reads or writes Hebrew. In fact, for someone involved in the study for social networking, she's not very well known at all.

Sadly, I don't speak or read Hebrew (except for a handful of words).  My partner is from Israel and I intend to learn the language once I have a breather.  (And thank you for the kind compliment.)

On June 29, 1976, an Air France flight bound for Israel was hijacked by four armed Palestinian and West German terrorists and flown to Entebbe, Uganda. The East African nation was headed at the time by the ruthless dictator Idi Amin, who had broken ties with Israel in 1972 and was sympathetic to the Palestinian cause. At Entebbe Airport, the hijackers were joined by three additional accomplices. The terrorists freed the non-Israeli passengers, keeping 102 Israeli hostages, who they said would be freed in exchange for the release of 53 jailed terrorists and a $5 million ransom. Learning that Amin's troops were aiding the terrorists, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin's cabinet planned a daring commando raid. On the night of July 3-4, three C-130 cargo planes carrying some 200 elite Israeli troops flew to Entebbe and descended on the airport. In a stunning military operation, the commandos took less than an hour to free 98 of the hostages and put them on a rescue plane back to Israel. In heavy fighting at the terminal where the hostages were being held, all seven terrorists were killed along with an estimated 40 Ugandan policemen and troops, three hostages, and Israeli commando leader Yonatan Netanyahu (brother of the future Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu). An elderly hostage who had been taken to a hospital before the raid was later murdered on Amin's orders. Before departing Entebbe, the Israeli forces destroyed 11 MiG fighters in order to prevent pursuit by the Ugandan air force. The spectacular success of the Entebbe raid greatly boosted Israeli morale, but the country's leaders were forced to contend with many questions from the international community over the legality of the operation.
