DPI

In printers spec I found:

600*600 DPI

and in other place only:

1200 DPI

what is the diffrent between the two parameters?

DPI means dots per inch. Generally the more dots per inch the printer can print the better the printing quality will be, but I don't think you can really see the difference between a 600 dpi and 1200 dpi.

The previous answer is mostly correct.  The higher the DPI value, the better.  (600 x 600 DPI, by the way, makes no sense).

I disagree with the previous answerer's statement about being able to see a difference in quality.  The difference between 600 and 1200 DPI visible to the naked eye; to some degree even the difference between 1200 and 2400 is visible, especially on graphics.

Offset type -- the printing process used for magazine -- is considered to be about 2500 DPI resolution.

Thanks, but I wanted to know the different between the two presentations :

600*600 and 1200. Can I assume that 600*600 is 360000 pixsels?
