DIY water filter

I need to remove chlorine and other contaminates from a municipal water supply for a hydroponid garden I'm starting. Is there any way to build a simple but effective water filtration system. The main objective would be to remove the chlorine. Any help would be appreciated.

Chlorine will evaporate into the air if the water is allowed to breathe for at least 24 hours.

Save all the water from your dehumidifier, as this is clean water, with no chemical additives.

Distilling the water is the best way of removing all traces of contaminants.
