If he wants to prevent stagflation, yes it is the best course of action in the short run.

It is the worse course of action in the long run as credit should be harder to get for everyone due to the defaults that are occurring.  Why make lower costing loans for institutations and individuals when the market has been defaulting on the previously low rates?  Why enable a bubble?  It's just silly.
